  • Business owner Jake Harvey brought authentic New Zealand pies to Decatur at Heaps Pies — on East Ponce de Leon Avenue — which opened in January 2025 and now serves savory meat and vegetable pies plus weekend fish and chips.  Decaturish

  • The Mike Glenn Collection, a display of rare Black history books and artifacts, is on view in the library's fourth-floor gallery from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and his talk is rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.  The Champion

  • Congressman Hank Johnson will honor outstanding youth on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Lou Walker Senior Center (Stonecrest) during his 'Future of the Fourth' reception, where technology winners and nominees for U.S. Service Academies will be celebrated with special guests and live streaming.  On Common Ground News
  • The DeKalb County Commission is considering a $22 million change order to extend Lifeline Animal Project’s contract to operate the animal shelter through 2027. The deal will boost spay and neuter services, mobile outreach programs and shelter operations to help keep pets at home.  Decaturish

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today in metro Atlanta, high pollen levels from elm, juniper, and alder trees reached record counts, causing more allergy symptoms. Experts warn that higher counts in March and April could occur — residents should keep windows closed and use HEPA filters to reduce exposure.  Fox 5 Atlanta
