  • Mint Mobile Detail, a veteran-owned vehicle cleaning service serving Decatur, has grown from one van to several and will soon open a new permanent headquarters in the historic Paste building in Avondale Estates—four times larger than its old location on Covington Highway. The business recently added an I Love Avondale mural by local artist Alexa Black and plans to expand its fleet from four to seven vans—supporting its commitment to community values.  The Champion

CRIME NEWS

  • DeKalb County officials, along with GBI, ATF — and CPD, executed a search warrant on Cleethropes Drive in Lithonia where a grand jury indicted 17 alleged gang members on charges including drug and firearm offenses and violations of the street gang terrorism and prevention act, with three also facing armed robbery and felony murder charges for the April 4, 2024 killing of Nicholas Grierson while police seized 20 firearms, illegal switch devices and evidence of a psychedelic mushroom operation.  WSB-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Superintendent Richard Woods visited City Schools of Decatur today to present banners to the principals at Talley Street Upper Elementary and Beacon Hill Middle School for earning State Leader Schools status. Talley Street was honored for strong literacy scores + Beacon Hill for advanced math scores, and Woods said he hopes to return next year.  Decaturish

  • On March 26th, a video showing a couple at LAX who appear to be Fulton County DA Fani Willis and former special prosecutor Nathan Wade is stirring debate on social media.
