  • Decide DeKalb (the local economic development organization) announced it will launch the DeKalb Women-Owned Business Guide on May 4 to spotlight women-led businesses in the county. The online guide will be updated frequently and is open only to licensed DeKalb establishments.  The Champion

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Decatur school board voted down a $23 million early learning center referendum Friday afternoon, leaving funding decisions for a future center and a high school expansion to be decided by public vote — local parents express concern over rising costs.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MARTA’s new Better Breeze fare system is live today as customers can get updated Breeze cards while both old and new systems run until a full switch in May. The upgrade brings new gates, vending machines, an updated app, and website for a smoother ride.  WSB-TV

  • Under new manager Walt Weiss, the Braves began their season Friday at Truist Park as they faced the Kansas City Royals while addressing key injury setbacks (several players missed early games).  Atlanta News First
  • The Braves honored six players from each decade to mark their 60th season in Atlanta as the team opened its season yesterday— a milestone celebrating icons like Joe Torre and Chipper Jones.  Atlanta News First
