  • The City Schools of Decatur board of education voted 3-2 against adding a voter referendum for the $20+ million ECLC project during a special-called meeting on March 27 – some board members urged further community input to build trust before moving ahead.  The Champion
  • Midtown International School, a K-8 institution at 1575 Sheridan Road, will close its doors Friday, April 3 — a decision driven by falling reenrollment and a surge in scholarship requests; the board will offer guidance to families and staff during the transition.  Atlanta News First

  • Marist School guard Kate Harpring was named 2026 Miss Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club on March 26, becoming the first in her school's history and only the third from DeKalb County to earn the honor.  The Champion
  • Stephenson High junior wrestler Badesire Lubala won the first wrestling gold for the Jaguars at the GHSA Championships on Feb. 12 at Morrow Center. After a car accident sidelined him in 2025, he secured his win with a first-round pin at 1:46, his coach said.  The Champion
