  • A Decatur mother pleaded guilty to malice murder after leaving her 7-year-old special needs daughter in an apartment closet—whose remains were found months later—and was sentenced to life without parole.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • A Decatur woman, Alondra Hobbs, was sentenced to life without parole on April 23 for abandoning her 7-year-old special needs daughter in an apartment closet — her daughter’s mummified remains were found on June 25, 2023, and Hobbs entered a non-negotiated guilty plea to murder and cruelty charges.  On Common Ground News

  • City Schools of Decatur will begin accepting non-resident tuition applications for the 2025-2026 school year on April 30, with the window running until May 15 and the option to extend—seats in K-2 and 3-5 schools will be filled by lottery at an annual rate of $7,883.  Decaturish
