- ➤ DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced that EMS driver Bruce Andre Hines, 47, was convicted for raping a 51-year-old woman who fell asleep in her car on March 5th in the 4000 block of Glenwood Road in unincorporated Decatur—he was sentenced to 25 years and must spend his life on probation while registering as a sex offender. - ➤ Decatur is developing a Safe Streets Safety Action plan to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes using a U.S. Department of Transportation grant—city officials are working with Toole Design Group and the Georgia Department of Transportation and will present the plan to the city commission on June 2, which may include lower speed limits and a no-turn-on-red rule at select signals. - ➤ Tax Commissioner Irvin J. Johnson reminded Decatur residents that motor vehicle and property tax services are available at three DeKalb County offices — 4380 Memorial Drive and 2801 Candler Road in Decatur and 3653 Clairmont Road in Chamble. Offices operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the property tax office open until 5 p.m. and online appointments encouraged to limit wait times. On Common Ground News
