  • Family members in Decatur are urging help to return missing 16-year-old Benjamin Braithwaite, while his brother said (he is neither violent nor disturbed) and is deeply loved.  Fox 5 Atlanta

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • County park naturalist Jonah McDonald captured 11 species—including river otters, beavers, deer, and grey squirrels—at Mason Mill Park in Decatur during a month-long outdoor recording shared on Trails of Mason Mills Facebook page.  The Champion

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Riders faced long waits at MARTA stations this morning as the tap-to-pay system debuted, with seniors and reduced-fare customers seeking new Breeze cards amid issues like returned mail (which affected over 3,000 cards). MARTA said more fare gates and vending machines will be added in coming weeks.  Atlanta News First
  • DeKalb County raised its minimum wage for government employees to $19.00 an hour, up from $17.68, with the change appearing on May 1 paychecks. Officials will hold a press conference Monday (part of the fiscal year 2026 budget) to discuss the decision.  Atlanta News First
