  • Artist Shannon Willow unveiled her environmental art installation Lungs of Mother Earth on Saturday, May 2 along a nearly two-mile stretch of the PATH Foundation's Stone Mountain Trail in Scottdale — the piece marks the second anchor in the Compassion Corridor initiative and is designed to evolve with the seasons.  Decaturish

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High school students in Georgia will have to lock up their cellphones from the start of the day until the final bell beginning in the 2027-28 school year after Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bell-to-bell ban on Tuesday (with exceptions for emergencies and special needs).  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • DeKalb County School District paused its school consolidation plan to allow time for more community input today. The district said the timeline change will let residents share feedback before the plan moves forward.  Atlanta News First

  • Transportation officials will close lanes on the west side of I-285 between Cascade Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive this Mother's Day weekend — from Friday at 7 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. — for road fixes.   • Officer David Rose was honored yesterday at the DeKalb County Fallen Officers Memorial, where his mother placed a white rose in a wreath to remember his service & his name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial next Wednesday.  Atlanta News First
