- ➤ DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson held a press meeting at the Maloof Building in Decatur on May 14 to say that only a few high-balance accounts will lose water service and that new steps to collect overdue bills will start June 1—she added that payment plans and online help will be offered for those in need. - ➤ DeKalb County commissioners passed a new ordinance to limit unlicensed breeders to one litter per year—an effort to ease shelter overcrowding where 35 dogs will be euthanized if not adopted by the end of this week. The measure is set to take effect in early 2026 and comes as local advocates and Lifeline Animal Project urge more residents to foster or adopt pets and support spay/neuter services to save lives.
