- ➤ LifeLine Animal Project’s DeKalb County Shelter in Chamblee saw an 18% increase in animal intake since last year with 8,954 animals taken in and 537 dogs housed on Friday—economic hardships have led more families to surrender pets. Additional overflow units to house 120 dogs are under construction and a new ordinance limiting pet breeding takes effect Jan. 1. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
