  • Rising living costs force seniors on fixed incomes in metro Atlanta to join a waitlist for transportation assistance from Senior Services North Fulton. The nonprofit also offers Meals on Wheels + Meals for Pets programs to help seniors get to appointments and visit with family.  WSB-TV
  • Nearly 1.4 million Georgians plan to travel this Memorial Day weekend, with heavy traffic expected today and tomorrow. State transportation officials + travel experts advise drivers near metro Atlanta, Middle Georgia and coastal areas to allow extra time.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
  • Decatur residents can swim from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day as the 2026 season begins, with pools at Ebster, Glenlake and McKoy parks and an indoor pool in Oakhurst open year-round, and neighboring cities like Brookhaven, Clarkston and Stonecrest launching their swim seasons with special events.  The Champion

  • Casting calls in metro Atlanta target talent for a Warner Bros film (filming in Fayetteville July–August), a Christmas decorating reality show with pay, and true crime reenactments (filming May 27-29).   • City Schools of Decatur announced that chief of safety and technology Eston Melton is leaving after 10 years to take on a new role at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta; his final day is June 15. The district is now seeking a replacement.  Decaturish
  • On May 8, the DeKalb County School District launched its first student-operated food truck at the Administration and Instructional Complex (Stone Mountain) to give middle and high school students hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and culinary arts. Nearly $300,000 from Intuit supported the initiative for 12 schools.  The Champion
