  • On Monday, May 25, communities across metro Atlanta held Memorial Day ceremonies and parades to honor fallen service members — including events at Stone Mountain, Roswell, and Marietta National Cemetery. Veterans and local residents gathered to remember those who served.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • A new Claratel Community Access Center is set to expand an underused facility on Winn Way near Emory Decatur Hospital in Decatur — funded by a $5 million pledge by Brookhaven — will offer therapy rooms, a quiet room, and a model apartment and will open by early 2027.  The Champion

  • Tom Hill performed with the Hill Tribe People at Mad Italian on Thursday night, April 2, showcasing his long legacy in local music. Attendees enjoyed a relaxed set as the musician invited local participants on stage (a nod to his communal style).  Decaturish

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Brian Kemp suspended the state gas tax through June 3 to lower pump prices by about 33 cents per gallon, although regular gas still costs around $4 at local stations. AAA warns that waiting until tanks are nearly empty can harm vehicles (risking costly repairs).  Atlanta News First

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-two high school students from DeKalb County have been named Georgia Scholars for 2026 by the state education department and will receive a diploma seal and graduation cord.
