- ➤ St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Decatur will host its annual Caribbean American Festival on Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The event will feature maypole plaiting, a talent show, games, food vendors and a door prize drawing with prizes up to $500 — blending Caribbean and American cultural traditions for a family day. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Brian Kemp signed a tax relief bill in April that authorizes a $1 billion state income tax cut and offers eligible taxpayers one-time rebates of $250 for singles, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for joint filers. The refunds will be sent by paper check or direct deposit next week for those who filed 2023 and 2024 returns by the May 1 deadline — the rebate is not taxable and may be reduced for outstanding state debts.
