- ➤ Two DeKalb County auto mechanics, Daniel Santana-Lopez and Jared Thompson, were arrested after federal agents found over 2,500 pounds of meth in their vehicles, with Santana-Lopez’s car holding over 2,200 pounds and Thompson’s search revealing more than 300 pounds and a firearm—officials say the arrests are part of a major trafficking operation. - ➤ Decatur police are searching for a missing man with Alzheimer’s who was last seen wearing a black tank top and white shorts (with a black flower print) and are asking anyone with information to help locate him. WSB-TV

- ➤ DeKalb County health centers are extending hours to help parents prepare children for school—families should note that wait times may be longer. The North DeKalb Health Center is open until 7:30 p.m. today while the Clifton Spring Health Center in Decatur will serve walk-ins until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22—parents are advised to arrive early. - ➤ Elizabeth Wilson, known as Decatur’s Mayor Emerita, was the city’s first Black commissioner and first Black mayor and remains a key community leader at 93 who advises new candidates. - ➤ Decatur officials announced a sweep of homeless encampments ahead of dangerous heat, saying the action will help protect public health as temperatures are expected to rise later this week.
