Good morning, Decatur.

In June, Kroger announced it would close 60 stores including its Memorial Drive location in Decatur and a Brookhaven store.

The Decatur closure—an anchor for a shopping complex with several businesses and a busy gas station near MARTA—has raised concerns about job losses and reduced grocery access for local residents.

A 16-year-old named Jayden Daniel accused of shooting his stepfather inside the family home on May 13 was arrested Thursday in DeKalb County — authorities say he drove away in his stepdad’s Cadillac and now faces charges including murder and aggravated assault.

Activists held rallies on Thursday, July 17 to honor John Lewis—marking five years since his death—and to continue his call for peaceful protest.

Organizers said the events aimed to remind Decatur citizens that the spirit of 'Good Trouble' remains a powerful force for change.
