  • The 100 Black Men of DeKalb County nonprofit and local partners will host Summer of Peace weekend—a three-day back-to-school celebration starting today at Priví at Stonecrest Mall with youth workshops, community performances on Aug. 2, and a worship service in Decatur on Aug. 3. CRIME NEWS

  • DeKalb County police say a man in his 20s was shot multiple times in the parking lot of a Panola Road gas station just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday — medics rushed him to a local hospital but he did not survive.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • DeKalb County police arrested and charged Jazmin Pilar Hall with murder in connection with a deadly shooting in a parking lot on Columbia Drive—where 22-year-old Shanntrell Bell died at the hospital after suffering injuries in a fight earlier in July.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • DeKalb County police arrested Travis Davis, 28, and Dontavious Davis, 25, for the deadly shooting of Lorenzo Tucker outside a shopping center on LaVista Road in late May—Tucker was taken to a hospital and later died.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • The DeKalb County Police Department is asking for help finding Bryant Nunn—49 years old—and his 1-year-old granddaughter Cimani, who were last seen leaving the 3000 block of Chaffey Circle in Decatur in a white 2016 Kia Rio with Georgia license plate CTN8396.  WSB-TV

  • City Schools of Decatur added new security measures on their first day of school after reallocating $1.4 million to boost campus safety. The upgrades include a mobile panic alert system, improved camera systems and enhanced vestibules—steps that Superintendent Dr. Gyimah Whitaker reviewed today as she visited several schools.  Atlanta News First
