- ➤ Jimmy David Mills, a DeKalb County man, was sentenced to life—plus 26 years—after he broke into a Brookhaven home on September 17th, 2020 where he confronted a showering woman and stabbed her husband. Fox 5 Atlanta
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local transit officials said the bus loop near Decatur Square reopened temporarily to resume transit service—workers will complete additional repairs to secure lasting improvements. Atlanta News First
- ➤ The Decatur city commission approved a plan on Monday to redesign a multi-use path in Legacy Park—redirecting it away from 33 unmarked burial sites discovered during May 6 grading—and allocated nearly $36,000 for the project. Mayor Patti Garrett explained that a Georgia State Historic Preservation Office radar scan revealed a burial vault containing glass and metal but no human remains. WSB-TV
- ➤ DeKalb County officials are drafting new zoning rules for data centers and imposed a 100-day moratorium on new projects to address concerns over energy use and pollution in areas near homes and schools. Commissioner Ted Terry said the measures will create buffer zones and may boost tax revenue to help offset declining federal funds. Atlanta News First
