- ➤ Hagen Rosskopf LLC will host a memorial bike ride on Oct. 12 in Decatur to honor late lawyer Ken Rosskopf who died in a bike crash in August. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. at the law office on 119 N McDonough St—attendees can ride on two routes and see a ghost bike and plaque celebrating his cycling advocacy. WSB-TV

- ➤ Two projects in Avondale Estates and nearby Decatur will add more grocery stores and shops to improve locals’ access to fresh food. Galore Market is nearly complete and will open this fall, while the $28.9M Candler Crossing project will bring a Publix store, extra retail space, and over 280 jobs when finished in 2027 — the development comes after a local Kroger closed in September. - ➤ Dr. Devon Horton, the DeKalb County superintendent, was indicted on fraud charges tied to his work in a Chicago suburb from 2020 to 2023—local parents said they were not surprised while the district said it will watch over management at Smoke Rise as his attorney claimed the charges do not affect his record here.
