  • Emory University’s Rose Library hosts the John Moore Bram Stoker Collection exhibit where artist Tim Youd retypes Dracula in red ink—showing the typewriter’s cultural influence as part of the live art event Striking Characters that runs through Dec. 20.  Fox 5 Atlanta

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The City Schools of Decatur Board is considering closing an unnamed elementary school as part of its redistricting plan—rumors point to Westchester or Clairemont Elementary, though no decision has been made. The board scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Beacon Middle School to review student reassignments.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • At Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta hosted a scouting year kickoff event near the end of September — about 500 local members previewed updated programs including new badges, family camping, and sports. Organizers announced a Rocky Road-inspired cookie will debut January 1 — part of efforts to offer modern leadership opportunities to girls.  The Champion
  • The DeKalb County Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton after he was indicted on federal charges linked to his previous school district investigation — he was on paid administrative leave before his resignation.  WSB-TV
