- ➤ The 'Spelhouse' homecoming weekend is underway in Decatur—residents can join local festivities planned for the weekend. Atlanta News First
- ➤ DeKalb County Police will host a free Trunk or Treat event on Halloween night, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at 2385 Wesley Chapel Road—kids in costumes will trick or treat and enjoy music and fun. On Common Ground News

- ➤ About 30 'No Kings' protests took place across metro Atlanta and North Georgia on Saturday; protesters in downtown Atlanta marched to the state capitol while groups also gathered at the Atlanta Civic Center and in Cobb County—showing widespread participation in the demonstrations. FOX 5 Atlanta
- ➤ No Kings protesters held events on October 18 across metro Atlanta—one event was a march to the Georgia State Capitol that began at 10 a.m.—and in Decatur a demonstration took place at Tom Jury, 1800 Clairmont Lake from 3 to 5 p.m., part of more than 12 planned protests in the region. WSB-TV
- ➤ K-9 Hali, a retired police dog from the DeKalb Bomb Squad who served from June 2013 to December 2022, died and is remembered for protecting high-profile events and dignitaries including U.S. presidents. Hali also took part in community events and helped recover weapons for the homicide unit—her service had a lasting impact on public safety. WSB-TV
- ➤ Residents attended a town hall on Oct. 15 at Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center to learn about data centers' impact on energy, water use, jobs, and local infrastructure — county officials discussed the temporary pause on new approvals and its extension through December.
