  • Decatur police said that cycling attorney Ken Rosskopf (85) caused his fatal bike crash in August, but his family disputes the report and has hired professional engineers to review the evidence.  Decaturish

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A local group called Save Decatur Schools has formed to oppose proposed consolidation plans for Decatur schools—its members want to keep the current school structure intact.  WSB-TV
  • Agnes Scott College was named a Top Performer in sustainability by the Sustainable Campus Index — the report used the STARS system to rank colleges worldwide. The college placed third among baccalaureate institutions and earned a gold rating for its work in academics, operations and engagement.  Decaturish
  • Former DeKalb County superintendent James Hallford died at age 88 — his wife said he always felt he was exactly where he belonged — and he dedicated many years to visiting schools and talking with students.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

  • The DeKalb County District Attorney’s office restocked gun safes and trigger locks after high demand at back-to-school events.
