- ➤ Decatur families can join free trunk or treat events on Oct. 31 offered by community partners in DeKalb, Rockdale and Gwinnett which include a haunted house at a Rockdale Sheriff’s Office parking lot and safe activities for kids. Springfield Baptist Church will host its Harvest of Blessings Fall Festival in Conyers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.—featuring hayrides, bounce houses and a petting zoo—while organizers invite everyone to enjoy a fun, secure evening. - ➤ City Schools of Decatur held a public meeting on Wednesday to discuss the potential closure of a K-2 school for consolidation since schools with fewer than 200 students lose state funding support — the meeting did not count as one of the required public hearings. - ➤ DeKalb County will expand the Snapfinger Wastewater Facility in a multimillion-dollar project to boost capacity from 36 million to 54 million gallons per day — a move aimed at reducing sanitary sewer overflows.
