  • Metro Atlanta has opened warming centers to shelter the unhoused amid a freeze warning — Gateway Center, churches in Cherokee County, centers in Dekalb, and warming stations in Gwinnett County offer varying hours from tonight through Tuesday. Local agencies are coordinating efforts to ensure those in need have a safe place to warm up.  WSB-TV

  • Atlanta-born hip-hop duo Outkast—Big Boi and André 3000—was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on November 8, marking a milestone that honors their impact on music and cements Atlanta’s role as a creative center.  Fox 5 Atlanta

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hundreds of flights were canceled at Hartsfield Jackson airport on Sunday because the FAA ordered a slowdown amid a federal shutdown that has lasted 39 days. Airport officials warn that delays will increase as holiday travel nears and staffing shortages continue until the shutdown ends.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • At 9:00 a.m. today, Decatur residents and former residents challenged a $52 million bond proposal to fund an Early Childhood Learning Center and school upgrades during a court hearing at Courtroom 7D — they claim a closed meeting on June 10 broke the Open Meetings Act and that the funds could be used for projects beyond what was announced — raising worries about property values and public accountability.  Decaturish
  • Warming shelters are opening in metro Atlanta as temperatures drop about 40 degrees; Decatur residents can use sites at Mason Mill Recreation Center, Exchange Recreation Center + Golden Door for women and children which are set to open at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Other counties like Cobb and Gwinnett are also providing shelter services to help residents stay safe during the hard freeze.  FOX 5 Atlanta
